Funeral Services

The Muslim Society of Guelph manages a reserved section of burial plots located in Woodlawn Memorial Park, Guelph, Ontario, approximately 5 kilometres northeast of the Guelph Muslim Community Centre.

Steps to take when a loved one has passed:

Contact the MSOG Funeral Committee in order to perform the Islamic rites of washing the body and to make burial arrangements in the Muslim Section at the Woodlawn Memorial Park cemetery.

Choose only one family member or friend to co-ordinate with the Funeral Committee.
You do not need to call any funeral home.

The MSOG Funeral Committee is run by dedicated volunteers to help you with Islamic rituals of preparing the deceased for burial and with burial at the Muslim cemetery.

Funeral prayers will be held at Jame Masjid Guelph after daily prayers. We try to schedule the prayers after Dhuhr or Jumuah prayers and leave for the cemetery immediately after the prayers.

Total costs for burial in the MSOG / Woodlawn Cemetry: $5000 – $8000.

Acquiring a burial permit from the city
Transferring the Janazah from the hospital to the funeral facilities at the masjid
Use of bathing room facilities for washing the Janazah
